Windows Systems Manager For Hedge Fund

Our client is a leading hedge fund specializing in algorithmic trading methods. The firm leans heavily on technology for competitive advantage, right down to the electronically optimized execution of the firm's quantitative trading strategies. As a result, infrastructure is central to their business. The systems team is small (<10 members), multi-disciplinary, and reflects the firm's opportunistic mix of Unix and Windows platforms. The firm grew by 50% in 2007 and is poised for similar growth in 2008. Due to this expansion, the group is currently interested in adding a senior-level expert in Microsoft technologies.

The role requires a deep understanding of the Windows platform, along with accordingly deep knowledge of IP networking. There is no formal network engineering team at the firm, as this responsibility is shared by the group's members. Above all, the right candidate will possess an "under the hood" understanding of the multi-layered interaction of OS, applications, and tools in an enterprise environment, and the kind of innate curiosity to dig well below user manuals and wizards.

Compensation is aggressive, in keeping with hedge fund industry best practices. That said, the firm's engineering culture blends the best of banking and high-tech, and work hours are among the most reasonable of any first-tier hedge fund.
