Oracle Database Developer (contract)

Client is a major NYC hedge fund with 10B+ in AUM

General:

* Not project managers/project leads, need a solid hands-on
technologist, who can turn around high-quality code quickly
without much guidance.
* Candidate must be comfortable with working in multitasking
environment with demanding users who expect things to be
delivered "yesterday"
* Interacting with business users and the existing development
team to gather/understand requirements; designing and
developing robust, efficient mid-size but complex
applications will be the nature of the job
* Good verbal/written communication skills required
* Would prefer candidates with 8-12 years of experience

Business:
* Extensive financial industry experience required.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of financial concepts
and terminology is essential. Mid office/Back office business
knowledge is required regarding how various asset classes are
modeled, Position and PnL management/calculations for
various asset classes would be necessary
* Hands of experience in Back office/Mid office systems like
FundManager, Geneva, Panorama, Murex etc. would be huge
plus

Technical Expertise:
* Experience with LineData's FundManager and knowledge of its
database will give candidates significant edge
* Comprehensive development experience with Oracle 10g
required, 11g experience will be a plus
* Development experience on large and complex Oracle OLTP/OLAP database is requires.
* Data Warehousing knowledge and experience is a plus.
* Expertise in writing/optimizing complex queries, procedures,
functions etc. will be required.
* Experience with SQL Server 2005-2008 will be a plus.
* Some Unix knowledge (scripting, PERL etc.) will be a plus
