Pre-Sales Engineer, Mt. View

Our client is a software product company looking to fill a customer facing Pre-Sales Engineer role. Experience needed includes: pre-sales experience supporting sales teams through technical implementations and demos of product pilots. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required as well as interface experience at the executive level. Technical skill set is a broad mix of light Unix Administration and Networking as well as light DBA with strong SQL skills. Local travel required, must be start-up minded and a Green Card holder or US Citizen. Product: Client has developed an enterprise-scale software system built on Java and SQL database technology with inter-module communication and GUI based on XML and Web Services. Job Description: • Provide pre-sales (sales engineer) support to sales team • Brief and demonstrate Client’s software for high to low level audiences while highlighting appropriate features and benefits • Implement small to medium size pilots using early release enterprise tools • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key technical stakeholders • Provide product feedback to development General Requirements: • Success in early stage and established organizations • Experience executing while building/managing team • Strong business acumen • Executive presence • Creative thinker Sales Requirements: • 5+ years in sales/sales engineer role selling enterprise systems • Experience with complex, cross organizational sales • Experience selling with ROI justifications • Vertical industry acumen with horizontal capability • Direct sales experience a plus Required Technical Skills: Unix o “Light” systems administration (file systems management, user management, etc.) o Network configuration (interfaces, multi-homing, etc.) o Unix tool skills (grep, awk, sed, tail, etc.) o Linux experience a big plus Networking o “Light” network administration (DNS, DHCP, routing, etc.) o Strong networking knowledge (Class A/B/C networks, firewalls, NAT, private networks, etc.) o Network tool skills (traceroute, nmap, ping, etc.) Database o “Light” database administration (space management, user management, loading, exporting, etc.) o Strong SQL skills o Oracle experience a big plus
